Utilizing the INFINITI Intelligent Key, this system allows you to unlock your car and start your engine without having to pull the intelligent key out from your pocket or bag. While extremely convenient, a common problem that INFINITI drivers can run into while using this system is a dead Intelligent Key.
With any battery-powered object, it’s common to encounter a drained battery, and the INFINITI Intelligent Key is no different. But with a dead Intelligent Key, you may be wondering how to unlock your car and or start the engine. While changing the battery may be the obvious solution, you may not have access to a new battery in certain situations. If this is the case, follow these simple instructions.
How to Unlock Your INFINITI Vehicle with a Dead Intelligent Key
First, to unlock your vehicle with a dead Intelligent Key, INFINITI has provided a mechanical key hidden inside the key fob to be used during such times. There are two different styles of INFINITI Intelligent Keys, and accessing the mechanical key is slightly different for both.
For the first type of Intelligent Key, unlock the lock knob located on the back of the key fob, pull the mechanical key out, and open the car door as you would with any mechanical key.
The second type of Intelligent Key features a tapered end and a slide lever on the key ring end. For this key, slide the lever over and pull the keyring to bring the mechanical key out.
How to Start Your INFINITI Vehicle with a Dead Intelligent Key
Starting the ignition in an INFINITI with a dead Intelligent Key will differ based on the setup of your vehicle. There are two different setups.
With the first setup, there should be a vertical or horizontal port located on the left side of the steering column. Insert the key fob into this port with the keyring facing out. The buttons should face either up or towards the door, depending on whether the port is vertical or horizontal. Once the key fob is in, press the Start/Stop button while pressing the brake pedal down. This should start the car.
For the second setup, there won’t be a port on the left side of the steering column. In this setup, touch the ignition button with the Intelligent Key. You should hear a chime. Within ten seconds of this chime, push the Start/Stop button while pressing the brake pedal down. This should start the car.
