What’s New for The 2021 INFINITI QX50?
With an abundance of standard safety features, a spacious interior, and a composed ride, the INFINITI QX50 continues to make a strong case for itself as a top luxury compact crossover. For 2021, such attributes are boosted with even more standard safety features, a new dual-display system as the infotainment interface, and the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
WHAT ARE THE QX50 TRIMS & FEATURES?
The 2021 QX50 is available in Pure, Luxe, Essential, Sensory, and Autograph models, with a choice between front- and all-wheel drivetrains. Two leatherette-trimmed rows, front-seat 8-way power adjustability, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are standard. INFINITI elevates the vehicle with leather seat trim, driver-seat memory, and steering-wheel heating at the Sensory trim level. Exclusive to the Autograph reim is semi-aniline leather seat trim and front-seat ventilation.
Infotainment on the QX50 is robust due to a combination of a six-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo system, four USB ports, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, three months of SiriusXM Radio, hands-free text messaging, Siri Eyes Free for voice recognition, and the previously mentioned dual-display system comprising an 8-inch upper screen and a 7-inch lower screen.
Other standard conveniences include a touchpad controller for executing infotainment functions, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, proximity keyless entry, and push-button engine start. At the Luxe level, INFINITI adds an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a garage-door opener. Improvements at the Essential level include a navigation system and three months of SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link. The Sensory and Autograph replace the six-speaker setup with a 16-speaker Bose Performance Series sound system, with a tri-zone automatic climate control system appearing only on the latter.
What’s Under the Hood of The INFINITI QX50?
The 2021 QX50 relies on a turbocharged 268-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine for brisk acceleration power without sacrificing fuel efficiency. Paired to the engine is a continuously variable transmission controlled with paddle shifters.
QX50 SAFETY AT THE FOREFRONT
Adaptive cruise control, distance control assist, blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear cross-traffic alert are the standard driver-assistance features on the 2021 QX50. However, if a crash occurs, you can rely on the crossover’s six-airbag system and automatic collision notification function. At the Luxe trim level, INFINITI adds traffic sign recognition and smart cruise control with stop-and-go technology. INFINITI replaces the rearview camera on the Essential, Sensory, and Autograph trims with a 360-degree one and adds front parking sensors to join the rear parking ones.
