The 2018 Boston Marathon featured 30,000 runners from around the globe and one all-new crossover. Making its debut, the 2019 INFINITI QX50 had the honor of leading the race. Even more of an honor, INFINITI helped the Boston Athletic Association with its Year of Service. The Semper Fi Fund, which helps injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces, was one of the beneficiaries. In fact, one of its volunteers, Deb Kerr, led the parade with the QX50.

The VC-Turbo, which features first-of-its-kind engine technology, provides the performance that the crossover needs without sacrificing at the pump. Technology keeps the engine quiet. An Active Torque Rod is another first, actively damping engine mount vibrations. Onlookers will agree that the crossover’s new design gives it curb appeal. Less apparent, the crossover’s aerodynamic flow has been enhanced through a series of inlets and outlets on the wheel arches and bumpers. A specially designed rear end and an enclosed underbody contribute to the zero lift design.

QX50 drivers will appreciate the sport-inspired high-performance steering wheel. It wears cross-stitched leather and matte chrome. A natural, more comfortable grip makes long distance driving less fatiguing for your hands. Paddle shifters are on the wheel, rather than the column, for a more natural feel as well. Yet another first, Direct Adaptive Steering is on the QX50 menu. Doing away with a mechanical steering column, high-speed electric motors and sensors do the job instead. Digital enhancement provides total command for the lucky driver.

An autobrake can respond to keep the QX50 out of harm’s way. Leading its class, the forward collision warning sees further ahead, notifying the driver sooner about stopping traffic. When you add the ProPilot, the INFINITI is on its way to automation. It utilizes Direct Adaptive Steering, Adaptive Cruise Control, and the lane departure system. With all of these systems in synchronization, the driver watches the road while the car maintains the right speed and best trajectory. Wrapping up the package, a handcrafted cabin provides the comforts drivers need. These include a heated steering wheel, heated/ventilated front seats, and rich leather upholstery. Technology continues on the dash where a pair of large screens provide an efficient Human Machine Interface. The InTouch system puts navigation at your fingertips. For those on the go, the QX50 provides a 39-cu.ft. cargo hold with special compartments. You can expand that to 44 cu.ft. by sliding the seats forward. A Motion Activated Liftgate makes loading easier.
