Head to Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden for the 23rd annual Japanese Fall Festival! The event celebrates Isesaki, Japan, and this year, it will welcome hundreds of middle-school exchange students who arrived from Isesaki this August. The festival, which takes place from September 7 th through the 9th, will feature special artists, performers, martial arts demonstrations, vendors and more!

Tickets are just $7 for adults on Friday and Sunday and $10 on Saturday. Children 12 years and younger are just $3 to enter. It will take place outside at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, which is located in the Springfield Botanical Gardens at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park.

The Japanese Folk Dance Institute of New York headlines the Japanese Fall Festival through its Minbuza performance group. The performers will introduce audiences to the culture and history of Japan with authentic music, colorful costumes and props which enable them to perform traditional dances from all around Japan.


They will also highlight interesting customs throughout their performances. Other performing artists include St. Louis Osuwa Taiko, Karin Amano, Mr. Hiroshi Tada and Tracy’s Kenpo Karate Studios. There
will also be many interactive Japanese activities available like yukata taiken, cotton kimono dress up, traditional tea ceremonies, a cosplay showcase, and a children’s activity area featuring traditional
Japanese games and crafts.

The festival will take place at 2400 S. Scenic Ave. in Springfield, MO 65807. And the festival hours are from 5 p.m.-10 p.m. on Friday, September 7; 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday, September 8; and 11 a.m.-6
p.m. on Sunday, September 9. Also, pets are welcome!

Springfield Sister Cities Association donates half of the Japanese Fall Festival’s proceeds to the maintenance and development of the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden. The remaining proceeds benefit cultural programs which further Springfield Sister Cities Association’s mission of “Peace through People.”
