By now you’ve probably at least heard of autonomous driving – technology that allows cars to drive themselves. But what does it actually look like behind the wheel? Take a look at the video below to see how an advanced prototype of the brand-new INFINITI Q50 equipped with the tech fairs on the city streets of Sunnyvale in California’s Silicon Valley.

As you can see, the car was able to navigate through dense streets without a problem in autonomous drive mode. It also safely made its way on the freeway, anticipating other car’s moves and responding accordingly.

Several of the features of autonomous drive technologies already exist in many of our new INFINITI vehicles, including lane-departure warning and forward emergency braking.

Imagine the benefits. Self-driving cars would provide drivers with more time to relax, check email and do a variety of other things on their daily commutes. Additionally, autonomous-drive cars will also help ease urban traffic and make getting around safer.

By 2020, Renault-Nissan Alliance has pledged to launch a minimum of 10 models with autonomous drive functionality – a move that will help pave the way for more INFINITI cars and SUVs to be able to literally drive themselves.
